Clean and modern room but the rest of the hotel outdated

The room was clean and modern with a nice bathroom. Good location in the centre and view from room.

The room service options were minimal, the hotel corridors and lobby were outdated. My room was on the 5th floor and when it rained there was water leaking from the roof in the hallway into a bucket. Didn't seem like a luxury hotel.

Weekend in Amsterdam

Rooms and beds comfy and modern.

Bit noisy on the road side of hotel due to refuse lorries coming early. But staff moved us to a better room at no extra cost.

It’s not good value if you can’t sleep!!

Ostensibly a great value for money high starred hotel

There was a continuous low frequency noise all night long from something on the roof above our room . A heat pump or an air con unit. Not very loud but in the dead of night it was all we could hear. I lost 2-3 hours of sleep and woke up exhausted. I mentioned it at the checkout desk in the morning and I gained the sense that I wasn’t the first person to have complained.

Highly recommended

Delighted with the hotel, great room and friendly accommodating staff who kindly stored our luggage ahead of check in. They even helped us to celebrate a family event. Delicious breakfast with plenty of options. Centrally located, yet quiet in the evening. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Smallest room I have ever stayed in! Uncomfortable stay as a result.

This is the smallest hotel room I have ever been in. The bedroom was 12 feet by 12 feet. To walk past the end of the bed you had to go sideways. We paid £200 for an ‘upgrade’ with booking.com for a larger room. I dread to think what the original smaller room was like. We had to put the suitcases behind the room door as there was nowhere to put them the room was that small. If you had put them next to the bed, you could not have moved in the room. Thank god we were there for only 3 nights. Would not return and would never pay for an ‘upgrade’ again.

The size of the room. Even with just a single bed it would have been claustrophobic. The bathroom was a joke. Take one step out of the shower and you stub your toes on the toilet. No where to put a toilet bag around the sink. Cleaning staff did not pay attention to refilling supplies, I.e I used the cotton wool make up pads, and they were not replaced the next day. It is not a 5 star hotel in my opinion. To be kind, I would give it 3 stars. Not worth the money.

Exceptional in every way

Everything was exceptional. The staff, the location, our canal view room, breakfast. My favorite treat was the complementary walking tour of the historic center that they arranged for a group of six guests with an outstanding guide, Eric Armitage, who is also an expert in Rembrandt. As an artist, it doesn’t get any better.

Wonderful location and breathtaking hotel - excellent staff!

Staff were incredibly helpful at all times. Location overlooking canal is wonderful. Architecturally, hotel is breathtaking!

Nice hotel, overall lovely staff, but food didn’t live up to expectation. seemed to be struggling with kitchen staff.

the room was in the ground floor, which is next to the the bridge, people stay close the room windows and we can hear each other it was very annoying specially late at night. generally there is no privacy.

Just ok... Wish I hadn't committed to staying here all 7 nights of our vacation.

Location was central to many sites, attractions and additional transportation options. We were able to walk to our activities every day. Entire property smells very nice. We liked that it was a historically significant building. Staff were all very nice.

Construction at the building across the street - call and confirm whether you'll have this view before booking! While we didn't pay for the upgraded canal view because it came with a smaller bed, I did not expect the horrendous construction view. I feel that we overpaid for our room given how awful the view was. We did not feel comfortable opening the curtains because there were construction workers within our view. Had I known, I would have booked a different hotel at this price point -- probably in the Jordaan neighborhood which is MUCH nicer! Breakfast was also overpriced - there's an excellent place next door with great food, reasonable prices, and a view of the canal. Location was very loud (people screaming and fighting just outside our window), especially in the evenings/at night. If convenience is what you're looking for, this hotel is ok; but if you're looking for a bit more peace and relaxation on vacation, try a different neighborhood. Advice for the hotel: it would be great to offer more rooms that have a canal view + king size beds. We were on vacation and did not want to squeeze into a double/queen bed. Offer a discount, free breakfast, spa service, or something extra special to those who will stay in rooms with a construction view to help make it worth the price.
