A long weekend in a historic city

The location and room were great. We walked all the main attractions and the staff were very helpful with ideas for restaurants and cocktails. The pool bar was our favorite nightcap place.

perfect 2 night stay in Charleston

Loved the overall aesthtic, the welcome cocktail, the decor, the pillows were the best, the robes, the location, the access to beach chairs, towesl etc. loved the bar and the pool area- overall was a really wonderful boutique hotel right in the middle of charelston- would 100% go back!

better value when not the in-season

the valet and front desk person were very welcoming. the hotel is a manageable size. they have coffee available in the morning and if you want something fancier they have an in-hotel coffee bar. They are close to a lot of the hot spots. very easy to walk everywhere (which is why we chose them). it was very quiet except the dumpster on Saturday a.m. (our room overlooked it) but VERY clean. and the room service was a pleasant surprise.

VERY expensive. We were there for a conference (SEWE) and expected to pay but got nothing really worth the extras. and our room looked over the back alley garage. beware the taxes in Charleston are very extensive (already knew this) but on top of that and the $50/day parking fee was the $29/day fee to use their bikes/skateboards/towels etc. NOT applicable for us and not really appreciated. the restaurant was ok. too cold for the little pool. So it met our needs but in no way exceeded. Oh, and if you want a mini-fridge they don't keep them in the room. you have to ask.

Not happy

Location, cleanliness, pool. check in was of ease. cleanliness.

We did not like the constant club music playing in the courtyard all the time. At least it shut down by 10-11pm, but annoying it was loud even in our room.

Excellent spot for a couples long weekend with a fantastic bar

Creative design, fun amenities, and a great staff!

There is no gym or fitness center but there is agreement with a nearby gym

Great location but disappointing facility.

Great location, and great staff

Carpet in the hallways and in the room were filthy. Very low water pressure in the shower that got even worse when the room next door used theirs, sink was very slow to drain.

The pool and pool bar are beautiful. great drinks and amazing atmosphere. The hotel smells lovely & was very clean. The staff was very nice, friendly and helpful. ROoms were super cute and very comfy.

It suited my purposes well as I was attending a conference right around the corner.

the location for my purposes was great. Renovations making front desk accessible only by stairs was inconvenient but do-able. Staff could have been more attentive to helping with luggage.

long hallways and inability to contact front desk by phone in room was a bit disconcerting. In case of emergency or fire or simply poorly acting guests could have created a problem.

A Good Time State of Mind!

The Ryder Hotel is one of the BEST boutique hotels I’ve ever been to. It’s absolutely adorable, the signature scent is amazing and the staff is so friendly. 10/10 would recommend them!

Comfy beds, amazing pool, amazing free rentals.

Free bike rentals were amazing! The bikes are super cute and easy to rent out, they give you locks as well. No time limits you can rent them all day. The beds are super comfy and I have sensitive skin so I appreciated the luxury bedsheets. House keeping comes everyday and cleans up, it was nice to have fresh linens and towels everyday especially after a beach day. They also rent out free coolers and beach games if you head to beach but they go quickly so wake up early! The pool is stunning!!!!!

Room's do not face the pool or street in my experience, instead facing a parking lot.

We will not be returning to this hotel.

The location was great.

We found out after we arrived that the hotel was under construction. Loud drilling and pounding could be heard all day long. Upon booking, nowhere did it say on their website that there was active construction taking place. The construction crew was right outside our window which was very uncomfortable for three females. We couldn’t even change in our room or open our blinds the entire stay. We had to take turns changing in the bathroom. Next, our room was dirty upon check in. There was food and the previous guests makeup in the dresser. Some of the staff members were very helpful as others were very rude. Not one person emptied the trash from our room. I had to ask for trash bags and take it down to the front desk myself. We were extremely disappointed with our stay!

Decent rooms and great location. Pool is small, should be for hotel guests only.

Good size rooms and comfortable bed, steamer and umbrella were handy. The staff including valet were very friendly and helpful.

We were not advised that the hotel had construction ongoing prior to travel. The pool was always packed because they allow guests that do not stay at the hotel to use the facilities. The cleaning crew missed a few things like the tissue in the bathroom, we left the empty box right on the sink counter so they could see it was empty, it was there when we came back. Body wash bottle in the shower was empty, front desk had to come to replace it.

Hip, Stylish and central location.

Room not as clean as I would hope. Stylish. Construction limited the views, an easier entrance and added noise. Pool was too small and too in demand. Overpriced.

Wonderful stay for a mother/ daughter vacation

We loved the special touches, yoga mat, umbrellas, etc. The hair dryer was the best hotel hair dryer we've ever had. And we loved the water fill stations near the ice machines! Friendly staff and the food was delicious.

Extremely disappointing

I booked it for the pool

I couldn’t use the pool because it had been booked for a private event the afternoon AND evening of my stay. No warning about the morning event and received a notice under my door that it was closing at three the morning of. Which turns out was wrong because they closed it at 11 for a different private event. I asked for a quiet room well in advance and they put me in one ON king street.

Stay somewhere else

Food and drinks were decent. Pool is nice but very crowded. You can't get a lounger unless you walk into the pool at opening time.

Tiny tiny room with construction early in the mornings. Not fun hearing super loud demo while eating breakfast and dealing with the mess they made of the entrance area - would've been nice to know at booking. Also the manager (or whomever she was sitting at the bench at check in) was SUPER rude. Google search says check in is at 3 - (can't find check in time ANYWHERE on the website) - but she insisted we were wrong and it was 4pm..uuuuntil we showed her the Google page owned by the business that backed up our claim. She said she'd need to call Google. O.m.g. She clearly has zero idea how that works - it was embarrassing for her. They also advertised a mini fridge in the room - wasn't there. Had to ask for one to be brought to the room (& was told it was based on availability. ) Again, don't advertise things that aren't accurate. By the way, does this staff REALLY need FIVE hours to turn over the rooms?! That's an absurdly late check in time for a tourist area. This was our second year in a row staying here and we won't be returning.

Overall we enjoyed the hotel and close proximity to ideal tourist locations.

Style and design. Newly renovated and modern. Staff, including valet parking staff were very friendly and accommodating. Had a large ice chest and valet guys helped bring it inside the property.

Room A/C system would not go below 70 even when setting thermostat to 68. Humidity made it feel ‘hotter’. Our room was also right off the pool/bar. Noise level was a little high but not unbearable. Also, the check-in/ front desk is on the second floor from street level. Hotel did. It have an elevator available from street level but did have one from 2nd floor to 3rd floor. Upon check out there wasn’t any coffee available in the lobby and k-cup machine didn’t have any water. After waiting 10 minutes for someone to address, decided to leave and grab coffee elsewhere.

Loved everything the cutest hotel I have ever stayed at great food!! We did one night and it was $700 total , it added up fast with paying for valet parking, fees etc your in a great location but your paying top dollar for it
