Nice family hotel option on Darling Harbor

Great location on Darling Harbor! (Will be a bummer when the building in front of the hotel is finished; there won't be much of a view anymore). Great breakfast selection, and lovely dining room overlooking the harbor. Rooms were nice and spacious, generally quiet.

The pool was very cold.

Great family holiday!

The restaurant was great and the beds was super comfortable. The showers was fantastic although the bathroom is in a dire need of an upgrade!

The gym equipment was broken, we only received 3 towels for a room of 4 - all the soaps were empty - but staff very happy yo rectify when we mentioned it to them. They definitely skimped on the coffee portions (1 coffee a day only allowed)

The staff were friendly and very helpful the little extras for family entertainment were a great bonus

The location was great

The room was like a sauna to walk into, the noise of kids running up and down the hall through out the night and the price charged for breakfast when the bacon was like it came out of the fridge and the scrambled eggs were the same. The toaster wouldn’t toast even after the bread had been through 3 times.

Clean, friendly, food was good, and great location.

The smart tv did not have access to apps like Foxtel, Netflix, Stan etc that allowed me to log into my account to watch streamed content.

We would be happy to stay there again.

Thr room was exceptionally clean. It was well laid out and had most of what we needed. Nice and quiet with nice views. Room service was great and the food was good.

It was a little too warm in the room. Found it hard to find. GPS was not helpful. Would like the old fahioned little soaps. Hard for older people to walk across the bath to get any soaps. Otherwise great.

It’s a bit tired and in need of fresh paint and updating overall, horribly expensive for what it is but hey, that’s the price of amazing location

Amazing location

Kids and us loved the complimentary iced tea on the ground floor. There was also cold water refill station near the restaurant. Kids Enjoyed the pool. Location was great. Close enough to food/ shopping/ attractions. Blinds worked well and kept out the morning light.

Breakfast was average. Pretty much all the pastries, banana bread etc where inedible. We had breakfast 3x and it didn't get any better. Check in is at 3pm it's a pretty inconvenient time, though we where able to have our luggage held.

GREAT GET AWAY

fantastic, friendly staff. Good location, easy to get around. Awesome outside area to sit and have a drink or a snack. the restaurant was lovely, and breakfast was great and lots to choose from.

would have liked at better pool area, was a little average.

Probably wouldn't stay again for the price point

Check in was out of control. They had all the check in staff on but it was very slow. Access to Darling harbour was not direct.

Won’t go for 2nd stay in Novotel

We enjoyed ourselves, the hitel was nice but doesnt compare to other hotels of the same rating.

The staff were absolutely lovely. The room was nice and comfy.

The room was in a location that was very noisy and that was apparently an upgraded room. The first night the water wasnt very hot in the bathroom, it was a bit better the second night. I ordered a water from room service and it didnt come, I said dont worry but if I was trying to impress a guest I would have brought one down free of charge. The breakfast was not the best that I have experienced in competing hotels in the area. One of the bakery pastries was very unpleasant. Im not sure if there were no chefs cooking fresh eggs because of christnas but every orher hotel has this service. I never use kettles in hotel rooms, I prefer a pod machine, its a nice touch. We tried to use the gym but there was an extended family of at least 10 people that were using it as a playgroup for there many children/toddlers. They had all their clothes in piles on the floor and there bags etc and they had made themselves very comfortable. They at first made no attempt to move and expected us to wirk around them. They did eventually moved out of our way but they all were taking turns showering in the gym and were very loud and overbearing and a little intimidating as if we were invading their space. We felt we had no privacy to do our workout. There was no one checking these areas for guest behaviour, some of those children were under 5 years old. The coffee machines at breakfast are skim milk only and I had to run around asking if there was a machine with full cream milk. I was eventually told to just get it from the bar. I am fairly easy to please but there were just a number if things that were a negative on this trip.

Great location but outdated hotel.

Great location, but dated hotel with need for important upgrades. Fantastic view of Darling Harbour.

The hotel needs renovation. Bad light and too dark in the room. Overall it is too old hotel which needs to be improved to justify the charges.

Excellent would stay again

We had a harbour view superior room it was great as we could watch the fireworks from our window. The facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We enjoyed using the pool and the restaurant food was lovely too. It was only a short walk to great restaurants, the ferry wharf to access the CBD and walking distance to Lyric Theatre and the star.

They think they need to provide free wifi so you can access the TV channels that are not free to air. They allow you to stream from your phone, which is great but you had to pay for wifi to access this feature. However, the staff were wonderful and comped the wifi we used.

The sheets were like plastic, the room STUNK so badly, the pool was tiny for the amount of guests the hotel sleeps, the food was overpriced, the hotels outdated and the staff don’t answer the phones

Concierge staff were excellent, very helpful. Room view of Harbour was outstanding. Housekeeping staff were not intrusive & our rooms were well cleaned in our absence.

Did not know that the restaurant was closed Monday nights. Was not able to access internet from either of our rooms, guest name or room# not known. No answer when I called number to fix.

Location was good, near to Light Rail & ferry services The front desk person checking us in was very helpful in assigning us a room right away even though we arrived prior to check in time

We informed front desk that water pressure from the overhead shower was poor, and the water temperature wasn’t consistent and kept fluctuating from hot to was tepid. Even though the front desk assured us they had made note of our complaint, no action was taken to resolve the issue. We planned to check out by 930am in our last day, and were up early to get organised accordingly. Around 830am, after my daughter and I had finishing showering, we had a service person knock on the our door to say the fire alarm sensor had gone off - he was an older guy, didn’t have ID of any sort, nor did he introduce himself, just showed up holding a service ladder and only explanation was he was there to check the room. My husband answered the door and let him in, it was quite a confusing conversation as we tried to narrow down what had triggered off the sensor as none of us are smokers. Finally the deduction was the steam from the shower had triggered the “fire alarm sensor” and the guy left after saying that we should consider cutting down the length of our showers!! Upon check out, we mentioned this to front desk staff as we still weren’t clear exactly what had transpired to set off the alarm, however the lady checking us out didn’t seem very interested - her only justification was that “we weren’t being charged for it” - not helpful at all.
