Lovely location on the shores of Lake Windermere. Easy parking. The staff, without exception, were excellent and the food was very good.
Room 16 whilst comfortable was noisy at times and needs a little updating especially the tile grouting in some areas of the bathroom. Some of the furniture in the Lounge had damaged veneer as some of the bed linen looked a little tired.
However, a non-publicised discretionary gratuity of 5% is added to your total bill - even if booking accommodation through Booking.com or other third party. It took the shine off an otherwise totally enjoyable stay.

Lovely Location and lovely staff in the restaurants
The staff at reception on our first day weren’t friendly or helpful, and the bathroom in our room smelled bad for the entire time we were staying, even though the fan was on, and there was no lift to take our suitcase upstairs. The hotel was listed as a 5-star hotel on Booking.com, but it is actually a 4-star hotel, and the service did not meet 5-star standards.
