Stunning location. Room was nice and clean and breakfast was tasty especially the fresh pastries.
Unfortunately when we draw a bath in the evening the water was yellow and contained black sediments. Mould in the shower.

Our lake view room was spacious and spotlessly clean. Amazing views. Comfy bed, roomy well lit bathroom with good storage, well stocked tea & coffee making facilities in the room and access to a terrace made for a very comfortable stay.
The charming hotel is let down by inexperienced staff and over rated dining. From the chef who couldn't cook a steak to order (after trying twice) and the waiter who didn't put the main side dish order through (extra charge for ordering veg, chips etc) resulting in an even longer waiting time for my husband's meal whilst mine went cold waiting for his to arrive, through to the manager who failed to offer an apology for a very disappointing meal for my husband and I. It was very apparent that the barman was inexperienced and the receptionist didn't seem to care about guest experience, particularly evident when I was rudely told that nothing in the form of a slice of cake/pastry/ scone or even a biscuit could be served with a pot of tea at 4pm, as I'd not pre booked an afternoon tea! Rather surprising for a 4 star hotel that was actually serving cakes and sandwiches in a dining room at the time. The 'builders' tea (no other choice of teas) served in a large stainless steel pot was the only offering.
Other failures in attention to detail such as out of date yoghurts at breakfast, completely overcooked poached eggs, dry toast and no butter on offer, the cleaning staff knocking the door whilst the 'do not disturb' sign was clearly displayed, seem picky in isolation but noticable over a weekend stay.
The final disappointing moment was at check out when we were simply asked to settle the bill without any enquiry into how our stay was.
Such a shame that genuine regard for guest experience is not a priority to the hotel owner.
