I love an intimate, boutique hotel experience. The spaces here are cozy and well appointed. The art is exceptional. The wabi sabi, eclectic aesthetic is right up my alley. I wanted to pick somewhere unique as a surprise for my husband’s birthday and Villa Herencia didn’t disappoint. As everyone has noted. The location is perfect. We were right above my absolute favorite plaza, a short walk to el Moro, perfect for lounging in the grass. The rooftop jacuzzi was a pleasant surprise. They were communicative and the staff was friendly. They also accommodated our early check in request, which I really appreciated! We are planning to return.
We only got one room key for the two of us. Unfortunately we locked ourselves out in the afternoon. The front desk was not manned at the time, so we had to walk to the sister hotel without wallets or phones to ask for help getting back into our room.
There is no breakfast included.
No mini fridge in the room.
Otherwise, everything was absolutely lovely.

We visited local the bakery and diner for breakfast, then walked all over Old San Juan for the day. A perfectly walkable City! Stunning! We were right between the two huge historic forts, and enjoyed every minute. Be aware that walking involved significant uphill climbs, but the downhill hike is great!

the staff were very welcoming and knowledgeable. they had filtered water, ice and a microwave in the lobby and a fridge and microwave in my room.. There is a lovely roof top terrace perfect for a predinner glad of wine

Old and many things in need of repair. Bed very hard. Microwave but no plates or cutlery.
