The whole building is oozing character. Both dinner and breakfast were good and, of course, since it is a pub, the drinks were too. The bedroom was updated, while still retaining character. Ample parking.
There are stairs to the room--but they are wide and easy to negotiate with luggage. Not in town, so nowhere to walk without getting in the car. That was fine for us since we were only staying one night.

Amazing here, we have been a few times to eat over the years but never stayed. 400 year old property next to Rydal lake, lots of history and amazing wildlife! Badger feeding was great, kids loved it. Staff were brilliant (especially the Scottish man on the bar and the cockney woman at breakfast). History of the place is fascinating, well done to Tessa for that great read! Pie was excellent, eggs benny was great too! Bed in family room was massive and really comfy! Great stay and good memories made!

Breakfast was very complete and tasty.
The room was cozy, quiet, comfortable and very clean.
Food was so nice; every meal was a proper experience.
Location was super convenient.
Overall, the experience was very good! will definitely be back :)
there wasn't really anything to point out. Felt like home away from home!

Location, the setting is great breakfast is very good evening meal good.
Room tatty and shabby in places for ÂŁ400 for 2 nights wouldnt expect wallpaper coming off wall mould on ceiling shower kept losing pressure and matres solid. Iron burn in carpet. Small bed,no iron amd sullen barman.
