About this house rental
Nestled in Smith Mountain Lake, this charming house for $440 per night is a fantastic option for your next vacation. My wife and I have been on VRBO with our first property "Happy Wife" VRBO# 1050898 since 2017 and although we did not expect it we found the managing of the home to be rewarding both in the fact it is an activity we do together and because of all of the wonderful people we have met along the way. A quick look at the "Happy Wife" will show that with 69 reviews and a 5 star rating that we are very serious about providing a fantastic vacation experience. Recently purchased home on Smith Mountain Lake with a long list of amenities ... perfect for summer vacation at the lake! Plenty of parking and room enough for a boat trailer! Located at the end of a Cul-de-sac in Goodview VA this home ("Happy Life") is a perfect compliment to our other VRBO rental "Happy Wife". The home is located on the main channel and we absolutely love to watch the boats go by all day long yet, because of the way the dock is situated relative to the channel there is plenty of safe space for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and ... well exploring. The dock is huge with an upper level that is in the sun all day long and then a lower level with a 12' x 12' floating dock that is perfect for swimming and fishing. Standing in the main level it is possible to have a view of the lake over what is almost 180 degrees are one turns toward the kitchen with the many windows present. The entire lower level of the home has been recently finished and furnished to provide a wonderfully comfortable setting for a perfect getaway with friends and family. The home has a total of 8 beds including a king bed in the main level master, a pair of bunk beds on the main level in the kids room, and another with a queen. The terrace level features two more king beds. There are a total of four bathrooms a full and 3/4 bath on the main level and two 3/4 baths on the terrace level. The living area on the main level includes a 50" smart TV and the living area on the terrace level includes a 55" smart TV both of which are set up with xfinity cable service. The home includes blazing fast wireless internet at over 200 Mb/sec. Just a few of the finer points for the home are: - The kitchen area is amazing. It almost feels like you are outside with the crazy number of windows. - The main level master includes a balcony and seating with water views - The terrace level master includes a deck area with seating and water views - The home includes three full sized refrigerators two of which are outfitted with automatic ice makers. - The main level includes a deck with water views and a portion of which is covered for enjoying the shade after many hours of sun. - The terrace level includes a deck with water views. - A metal fire-pit is available and fires at the lake are amazing! - Linens are provided - plan to bring your own beach towels. - The terrace level includes a ping pong table for hours of entertainment. - With decks, docks, balconies, and the wooded lot there is a place for everyone. - The large section of land at the top of the driveway to the right as you face the home will accommodate almost any trailer.

Great time celebrating my husbands 50th at the lake. Plenty to do with the dock, a canoe, kayaks and paddle boards for use during your stay and a nice game area for those rainy days. Fire drum right off lower level deck so you don’t have to walk all the way down to the dock to enjoy a fire. Well thought out vacation property stocked with everything you need for a great trip. We will be back!

Lake house was amazing! Was a perfect place for our family, friends, and fun! Views of the lake were super, huge dock was perfect for morning coffee, and the downstairs game room/bar was our favorite hangout (kitchen too)! Here for our daughter's wedding, we had plenty of room for all family and friends, and was a great place to come back and relax after all of the events during the week. Loved the decor, comfortable but very elegant. Bedrooms were huge, and the bathrooms were gorgeous. The owners responded quickly to any questions we had. We will definitely be coming back!! Thank you for a great stay!

Spent a week at Happy Life!! The house was perfect for a family stay…very spacious and very well stocked. The walk from the lake was tolerable….felt good to get the exercise. The kids enjoyed all the stuffed animals and games. Hope to make it back. Communication went well.

Group of family and friends visited “happy life” and had a wonderful time. The house was soooo very clean and included everything you could think of…. Our boys caught a ton of fish off the dock and enjoyed floating around in the kayaks… really appreciated them taking care of the trash and the linens at the end of our stay which made for a very easy departure….awesome communication with the owner who was very accommodating and welcoming. Highly recommend!!!!

House is just as pictured! Comfy beds and furniture and easy check in. We cooked all our meals at the house and the kitchen was well stocked. We made one trip to the grocery store for our group and had plenty of room with the three refrigerators! Great communication with the owner. We are already planning to return next year!

This set up of this place worked well. We had everything that we needed. There wAs a beautiful view of the lake from the dock. Probably would have been nice to check in earlier (3:00 pm?). No matter - enjoyed by all.

This VRBO, “Happylife” is awesome. It was spacious, clean, and had almost everything you can think of needing. The location is beautiful and allows you plenty of rest and relaxation as well as water activities right in your back yard. I will definitely book this place again.

The house and view are beautiful. The host information was great. They didn't respond to all my vrbo messages but got the essentials done. The driveway was a little intimidating and needs markers on the right side to avoid hitting a retaining wall. My brother did damage his car door and front fender because it was difficult to see. Overall a lovely stay.

Spent a long Girls' Weekend here in mid-September and we had a wonderful, restful trip. Weather was perfect and it is rather quiet here--the only noise we heard was the boats on the water when we were down on the dock, which was no bother at all. House is very roomy with most anything you can think of that you need. Beds were comfy and linens and towels were very nice and soft. Kitchen is well stocked. Certain spots on the upstairs couch are starting to become well-used and were not comfy for sitting. Downstairs couch was much more comfortable. If we would change one thing, it would be to have less trees in the yard for a clearer view of the lake. The trees do provide great privacy, though, so for some, you may like the trees as they are--we personally wished we could see more of the lake. We did have a great view from the dock, though, so we were happy with that. Be prepared that there are ALOT of steps to the dock--over 80. If you are someone who struggles with steps, this is not the place for you unless you are content to sit on the deck to the house and not go down to the lake. If you are up for a cardio workout each time you come up from the dock--you'll love them! Just be smart and pack what you need when you head down to the dock and you can minimize the number of trips. Keep the bottom sliding door unlocked when you head down and you can enter the house from there and have a seat on the terrace level before heading to the main level, if you need it! Driveway is VERY steep and it takes some maneuvering to get back up--it might be tight if you have multiple cars. We only had 2 and had no trouble. Overall though--it was a great place to stay and we would definitely recommend staying here--just know what to expect. Thank you for your hospitality and sharing your lovely home! :)

We had a blast! We caught catfish, bass and bream off the dock. We cooked every day. Anything you need to cook, this home has it. We brought our boat and the dock met our needs there, including an outlet to charge our trolling batteries. The house is large, so we were able to spread out and have our own space. Each couple/set of kids had their own bedroom and bathroom. And there are 2 living areas. So we could watch what we wanted on tv without a fuss with our teens/young adults who had their own area downstairs! I especially liked the extra fridge down stairs. When there are snacks and drinks on their floor of the house, the kids don't wake me if they stay up all night!

Great, well appointed vacation home. Excellent communication for both checking in and during the stay. Inside of house was very clean upon arrival. Note, there are many stairs to get down to the lake so if you have mobility issues, might need to consider this, if considering to rent.

We had a great week! The house was spacious, well appointed and with enough room for people to spread out and have some space. The kitchen is very well stocked, we cooked a lot of great meals, there is everything you might need. We saw lots of deer, enjoyed the lake and the view.

Home was very spacious, beautiful view from the DOCK, loved the 3 refrigerators, grill, multiple paddle boards, kayaks and ping pong table. The kitchen could use a few more pots and non-stick skillets. Family room furniture was not very comfortable. The photos of the walk from the dock to the house were a bit deceiving, way more steps than we expected. Overall, a beautiful vacation home!

Exactly as described online. Kitchen was stocked with any appliance or utensil you might need. The three refrigerators (two upstairs, one down) were a great feature. Never did try the Ninja blender. - intimidating (LOL). Kitchen, bathrooms and all bedrooms were clean. The little bit of dust on some of the fireplace shelves and bookcases was noted by my wife but was minor in my mind (4 vs. 5 stars on cleanliness rating) The two-level floorplan was nice because it provides some separation if needed between bedrooms and bathrooms. Dock had a nice selection of water sports equipment - kayaks got a lot of use. 83 steps from the dock to the bottom level of the house. Quite manageable because of the numerous landings for resting on the way up. Our grand kids (6 & 7 yrs.) had no problems. As the senior at 72 years with some respiratory challenges, I took my time and was able to make 3 or 4 trips up and down every day without a problem. The Cul de sac and road to it would be good for bicycling - little traffic. Well deserving of a 5-star rating. I cannot emphasize that enough.

The house is conveniently located on the lake- plenty close to lakefront dining and shopping, but private enough to not feel inundated by other travelers. We found the house to be beautiful, exceptionally clean, and well-appointed. The house is conveniently located on the lake- plenty close to lakefront dining and shopping, but private enough to not feel inundated by other travelers. Summer Family Vacation
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your home at Smith Mountain Lake. There was plenty of room for everyone plus a very open floor plan. The home was beautifully decorated and was enjoyed by all of our family.
All in all, a terrific house for a large family or group of friends. Our granddaughter loved the room with the twin beds, and she loved all the stuffed animals, toys and books in the room and downstairs.

Lakeside Luxury!
By far the most positive experience we’ve had in a vacation home! The house exceeded expectations: all areas were very clean, well-appointed kitchen, comfy beds, luxurious linens, amazing views, huge dock with water toys and great space for our rental boat. Keith was such a good communicator and made checkin and checkout easy. My family with adult children enjoyed the dock from early morning to late at night; the kitchen had absolutely everything we needed for fun family dinners and plenty of seating! Extra fridge space was invaluable! The living spaces were so comfortable. Immaculately clean!! The walk to the water is expected on much of the lake and this is broken up into a few sections, not a bad walk at all. We can’t wait to come back!

Good time at Goodview
The house is very open and very well equipped. In the kitchen everything was there that you need and at the dock there were plenty of choices of kayak, paddle boards, and vests. It is not a full view of the lake because there are many trees, but this also allows some privacy. It was a lot of steps down to the water but manageable. We certainly enjoyed our stay and were quite satisfied. We will plan to return in the future.
