Lovely hotel. Full of character. Great restaurant and bar. Amazing view from our room. Really helpful staff. A brilliant stop off on our NC500 trip. We will definitely stay again.

We love this place! Celebrated our 25th of anniversary here and it was perfect. The room was lovely, the food was delicious and the saff were friendly.

We were only there for one night. Felt a bit tired even though it was newly renovated. I thought it was expensive for what it was.

Beautiful old building in a lovely seaside/golf course accessible location. Staff friendly. Ordered room service breakfast for my wife for both mornings of our stay, which was excellent although they may have run out of avocado on the second morning as it was barely there.
We booked a deluxe double room with a sea view, 210, which was a little cramped compared to our expectations. There were a couple of noticeable cobwebs on the ceiling/walls and bird excrement on the window sill. Found a first aid plaster in the bathroom.
Bed was comfy but pillows too soft. The hot buffet served in the dining room was of very average standard, similar to Premier Inn/Travelodge, and not what I would expect in a 5 star hotel. Breakfast was busy both mornings with plenty of staff present but a bit directionless at times with regards coming back to take your order and getting the tables cleared promptly. Noisy both nights with a bit of drunken shouting, swearing and banging of doors in the centre stair well. Sufficient for our requirements but over priced for what it is. Suspect enough one off golf trade suffices from a business point of view although I note others saying they will be back. Hopefully having been to Specsavers first?
I mentioned none of the above on our departure as by then there was no point in upsetting the reception staff or myself by remonstrating. Much better to leave an honest review. Please do not respond with platitudes as we won't be back.
