Wonderful hotel close to Funchal, staff and facilities are perfect.

Breakfast was amazing. On the patio in a tropical garden with every type of food you could want. As usual the staff were polite and helpful. One of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had. Location is 15 min walk down into town centre ( downhill) and 30 mins wal back uphill! The gardens of the hotel are better than the local botanical gardens

Immerse yourself in an exclusive tropical island world in a historic mansion with a beautiful garden

We enjoyed the warm welcome at the front desk and by the concierge. Everyone working in the hotel is highly professional and very friendly. We felt taken care of by superb hosts in a wonderful environment, the gardens are just marvelous and the house radiates a warm coziness.

Wonderful experience

The gardens were amazing! Eating breakfast each morning on the beautiful grounds was such pleasant experience. The staff was just as wonderful! Can’t forget to mention sweet Columbo.

Simply wonderful place

The gardens, the view, the staff...breakfast was amazing, everything fresh and delicious. The bed was very very comfortable.

Absolutely loved my stay. The gardens are amazing. All the staff are incredibly courteous, friendly and professional. The food is so delicious and fresh. I would not hesitate to recommend this place and I will definitely return. Thank you to a fantastic team.

Fantastic gardens and peaceful ambiance, service second to none, exceptional friendly English speaking staff who couldn't do enough for you, Pool was sparklingly clean and sun beds comfortable, well spaced out and always available A great place to relax and feel like you have had a very special break on what was a special occasion for us.

Quite a walk to the seafront but the trade off is the beautiful and well kept gardens at the Hotel.

What an amazing surprise. A wonderful facility, amazing suite, outstanding staff. Out of nowhere, in the vicinity of everything, you enter a gate and you are in paradise. Genius architecture and design nearly hidden from the eye but wow. Bravo

It was perfect , we will came back for sure

Rooms are clean and comfortable, breakfast is amazing , and the garden and surroundings are perfect . having a place to park for free is also a big plus , and the shuttle to and from the city center is a very nice perk. Its such a quiet and relaxing place.

The only suggestion I would make would be to improve the room doors somehow . Some guests are not mindful of others and are a bit noisy when leaving and entering the room while shutting the doors.

Stunning hotel and lovely people.

The location and setting was very tranquil and relaxing. The gardens were stunning and the staff were so friendly and helpful. I honestly could not fault it.

5 star hotel, 3 star experience

Lovely place with an amazing garden. Breakfast was wonderful.

- We’ve been traveling for a month in Morocco and Portugal. The bed in our suite was the worst of our trip, by far. We were staying for 5 nights so I asked if anything could be done. I got a gracious, “we’ll do our best”. their “best” is doing nothing. - The place is a not new so every time a toilet flushes, a shower is taken, a tub is drained… it is loud in the room. - The restaurant is wonderful for breakfast. I’d say the best of our trip. Dinner, however, is extremely overpriced and pretty average. There are many wonderful places to eat on Funchal and I’d advise eating dinner elsewhere.

Really a perfect and picturesque hotel

Loved it !!! Had a wonderful stay. Loved the views of Funchal. Gorgeous place with stunning gardens. Breakfast was very good and diverse. Excellent Service from the staff.

The bed was a bit hard for my preference. Didn’t love the smell of the offered bathroom amenities.

We loved it, we were sad to leave.

Hotel was exceptional, the staff were very friendly and provided a warm welcome. A La Carte Breakfast available each day was inclusive, freshly prepared and well presented. Housekeeping Staff were very diligent, well presented. Sadly, the Pool and Jacuzzi were on the cool side but time of year to be expected. The gardens are just now coming into their own as spring is underway.

We generally liked it all, it's hillside position was a little problem, 20 minutes downhill to town with some aspects steep but there is a regular courtesy bus and taxi's are available downtown if you don't want the steep uphill return.

The grounds are just amazing: the gardens, the pool, the outdoor terrace! The restaurant was beautiful, food was delicious and service was great.
