Decent stay, but not a good value

Very spacious common areas. Staff was helpful.

The room was very basic for the price. The bed was uncomfortable, and the bathroom needs maintenance.

Disappointing

The room was spacious and quiet. From the eight floor we also had a beautiful view of the canal. Shower was good with good lighting.

Room was not cleaned. I found hair and debris in the drawers. Lamp on the desk was dusty. Upon arrival there was a distinctive smell of burnt milk in the kitchenette. The larger drape was hanging missing a couple of hooks. My husband fixed it with some effort. Bed was small, uncomfortable and noisy. In the bathroom the sink was super small and the toilet flush took ages to become quiet after flushing. Light on the bed was only on one side and it was minimal. We moved the desk lamp to the side of the bed that was missing a lamp Choices at breakfast were minimal. No eggs. Bananas and apples for fruit. Since the hotel is run by students every morning flatware and napkins were in different locations. To find them you needed to go on a treasure hunt. We also didn't like the long walk to get to the room passing by a common aerea that looks like a study room where we also had our breakfast. The structure is in fact a student dorm rather than a hotel. Quite nice as a dorm. Quite poor as a hotel. One need to use keys to access the elevator. What a bummer!

Very functional space in a decent location for an Edinburgh stay! Breakfast is a welcome bonus

The staff were lovely and accommodating. Free breakfast was handy, and it was walkable/busable to anywhere in Edinburgh. Media options and WiFi was good also

The room wasn't completely clean (floor and bed). The bed wasn't very comfortable and the room was very bland in comparison to the images

Great for central Edinburgh. Incredible that this is student accommodation. Made me wish I was a student again!

Great starting point for discovering the city of Edinburgh

The overall laidback vibe of the hotel and off course the staff and their 'always smiling' try to help and advise you - thanks guys !

To be really honest: the breakfast was the only disappointing part of the experience: not enough bread, mostly only cheese available for your bread, sometimes not enough plates. It did get better on the final day though...

Good location and nice place

Sharing areas. Kitchen, good location. Friendly staff. There is area for laundry. Coffee was very good.

Breakfast was very basic. No iron in the room. Room floor was dirty and not clean. Bathroom sink was almost blocked and they didn't fix it even though we asked them to do.

Ok but don't expect much

Central location, easy to walk to the main sights. Clean room but trash was not taken out for 4 nights.

The "double" bed could barely fit two people. The breakfast was continental, so pastries and coffee mostly. Some yogurt and 1-2 types of fruit were available. Always a line for the one coffee machine.

People working there are lovely

It wasn’t well organized. On our last day, someone walked into our room. The same happened when we arrived, got a key card and when we got to the room, someone’s belongings where there.

Not very good value for money but in a quiet area and quite a good location.

Just the location that was good

No hand wash supplied in the room or shampoo. I had to go out and buy my own. Not ideal especially after the pandemic I would have expected hand wash to be provided. If you got back to the hotel at night ( not even late at 10.30pm) there was nobody on the desk and I had to wait for someone to leave the hotel to let me in. Also when I checked in I left my luggage behind the counter and was told it would be there for me to pick up. It wasn’t it was in a room that I had to find with loads of other bags.

Great location but very uncomfortable bed

Great location. Rooms were big and shower was lovely.

Bed was extremely uncomfortable. There were building works going on outside which were really loud from early morning, which I know is not the properties fault but this with the uncomfortable beds meant we didn’t sleep the entirety of our stay

Great location. Clan room with kitchen and utensils. Breakfast left a lot to be desired. Maybe get a second toaster and some butter not flora.

Nice location very friendly staff - not cleaning the bedding daily was a huge disappointment

Rooms lovely great location 10 min walk to grass market / castle, free breakfast (toast, fruit cereal), free pool table / ping pong and other facilities

Bedding wasn’t once changed in a 5 day stay, asked staff twice and wasn’t ever changed, had to request fresh towels daily and this was also forgotten

Exceptional

Nice, modern and comfortable. Very spacious which was nice. Friendly, helpful and available staff. Awesome communal facilities down the bottom - lounging, games, reading, washing, the works. Plus hot drink machine - delicious hot chocolates.

Breakfast could have been better - efficiency of restocking, some lengthy wait times. But the food was nice and the staff were very busy so we were still happy

There remained a trash bag in front of my room for three days. Inside the room, there was still some stuff that previous visitors had stayed in.

Dorm room walkable distance from city center

great common areas and nice complimentary breakfast; kitchenette was very practical

bed was very uncomfortable and also too small for 2 people; front desk was most of the time unreachable.

We loved it.

Design of the space encouraged Sociability.

Sometimes some of the guests were noisy late into the night which made it difficult to sleep. No air conditioning meant the room was quite hot and a bit airless.

Good-sized accommodation in a good location

Excellent location - walked into the Fringe shows every day and nice restaurants nearby. Very spacious studio with good facilities.

Superb

Nice ,clean and spacious room. Big open space for relaxation at ground floor. Good breakfast included.

Nice hotel with a big room

The room was big and it has provisions for cooking. The hotel was located near a bus stop. The bed was nice and comfy. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast could have more choices and variety.

Good

It's a student dorm, which may seen unconventional at first but then you appreciate the gigantic shared spaces, TVs and sofas. There are communal washers and dryers, perfect if you're staying for longer. The location is really good in a modern area, the more traditional-looking squares and streets are within a short walk. The walk to the Royal Mile is 15-20 minutes. Staff were really friendly (although you don't need or expect much assistance while staying there).

We stayed during what the UK considers a heat wave - about 26 C. And boy was it hot inside, the blinds were open prior to our arrival and we felt like inside a hot fish tank. It wouldn't cool down during the night at all - the window doesn't open very wide. The fridge wasn't working. The bathroom is designed for one person really, though I've seen worse.
