Fisherman's Village was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation spot! Excellent staff, views, pool, snack bar, bar and ocean area, yet small and a bit more understated. David was as a very communicative host both before we arrived and during our stay. My only comment was that it was a bit "lived in". Could use a coat of fresh paint and a few updates, but otherwise perfect for our family of 2 teens and parents!

My son, DIL and 3 grandkids (under 6 yrs) stayed in David’s condo for 9 nights, Feb, 2023. This was our 5th visit to Fishermen’s and we wanted to share this little piece of paradise with the family – 17 in all (7 under six) so we rented a total of 5 units and had the crew join us. This property is perfect for families – small, beautiful pools and one of the nicest beaches in the area and a short, beautiful walk to get to 5th Ave. We offered to babysit for each family so that they could go to town and enjoy some ‘couple time’ so spent time in all 5 units. David’s condo is ‘nice’ - with beautiful views of the sunrise and the entire complex but the unit could use a few updates. It wouldn’t take much to give this unit some wow factor. There’s some water damage above the kitchen cupboards which is not a pretty sight. The living room furniture could use a refresh and the frame of the patio sliding door off the living room is cracking and should be replaced. Mostly the condo is fine. Bedrooms, bathrooms, beds – all good. David is a gracious host and is on the property most days. Nice to know that he’s nearby should something urgent arise. He established and maintained contact from the time we booked his unit until check in. He also left some treats in the condo for the family - a nice and thoughtful touch.

We are huge ocean people so this property was awesome! Great sand, swimming and views! Our kids enjoyed the pool, and older son used the gym that had ocean views.
It's a short walk to Playa Del Carmen's 5th Ave and we cooked about half of our meals at the condo and ate out the other half. The option to do either was great.
David went above and beyond to communicate and fix any issues that arose. He was great at checking in.
Would definitely visit here again! Grateful for a wonderful vacation :)

The apartment was sufficient for our needs including a full size refrigerator, microwave and stove/oven.
The beds were comfortable. It was nice to have two decks to watch the sunrise from or chill out after a day at the beach or pool.
The staff at fisherman are pleasant and knew our names within a day. Excellent service with good drinks and food at the pool bar.
I would definitely recommend Davids apartment.
Side note it is on the third floor without an elevator but it was the only exercise we did while on vacation so we didn’t mind. Staff kindly assisted with luggage when asked.

Fisherman’s Village Playacar
This was our first time using VRBO. We will definitely be using it again! The unit we rented was perfect with amazing views of the beach and the sunrise! David was very responsive to all of my emails and questions. We will be visiting Playa again in the future and will for sure stay here.

The location is excellent! Right on the beach with easy access to the pool. The staff is amazing at Fisherman's! Marcel the doorman is awesome. He will find you a driver for the day at a great price. The drinks and the food are overpriced! The food is good but not great. The bartenders use the lowest bar shelf liquor. It took them 4 days to get more tomato juice for bloody mary's. The Condo is just ok. It needs an update now! The furniture is old, the oven gets really hot and burns food easily, no hot pads/mits to take hot food out of the oven, the cupboards look like they are ready to fall off, the upstairs bathroom needs a major overhaul. All in all is was an ok condo and the only savior was the staff at Fisherman's is wonderfull! But you can only polish a turd for so long. Spoke with other people who have been coming to Fisherman's for 8+ years and they stated that its been declining every year for quit a few years now. I hope they get it together soon, this place could be great!

The hotel staff was amazing as were the ocean views! We traveled here with our 2 small children and it was a great condo for all 4 of us. If recommend it to anyone. It is on the 3rd floor and no elevators so if climbing stairs are difficult, this wouldn't be ideal for you.

We have stayed at the bigger resorts in Play del Carmen, but have become quite fond of Fishermen's. We love the smaller resort atmosphere. Everything is easy to get to and you are never far from the beach. It also a short walk into town for food, drink, and activities. However, this is also available at the resort if you choose to not venture out. The beach is the best! We met several families from other resorts that claimed the beach in the front of Fishermen's was better than at their resort. The resort did have non-motorized water sport equipment for use, such as kayaks, but we preferred to just bob around in the gentle surf. My husband and kids had a good time snorkeling on one of the calmer days. The pool was nice and I appreciated some shaded parts in the pool in the afternoons. The swim up bar was also a great touch.
The owner, David was great to work with and made himself available if ever we needed assistance. It was nice to meet him in person after all of the emails sent back and forth leading up to our vacation. It gave us great comfort to know that he was so close and available if we needed anything.
The staff at the resort were all friendly and helpful. We had an issue with the air conditioning mid-week and had a prompt response from staff after reporting it.
We can't say enough good things about our whole experience and hope to return within the next couple of years.

It was a pleasant surprise arriving at the resort to walk into the open air lobby and have the ocean "smack dab" in front of you! The condo was exactly as pictured/described. The condo accommodated the four of us without difficulty and the two balconies were added benefits which we enjoyed morning til evening. The unit was very clean upon arrival and housekeeping did a fantastic job with daily maid service. The staff was attentive and very helpful. The location was perfect for our family. We spent a few days enjoying a nice quiet time at the resort swimming in the pool or walking down the uncrowded beach with beautiful soft white sand. Other days we would walk the beach or walk the lovely gated neighborhood to 5th avenue. Sight seeing activities during the day were easily accessible from the resort. The owner was very helpful in answering all of our questions and we are looking forward to returning.
