When we were looking for a vacation home in Playa Del Carmen the biggest consideration was to find the property that would make the best vacation rental and we believe we found this with the newly constructed El Faro luxury suites. El Faro is truly unique in that it has the best combination of everything people are looking for in a vacation rental. Being beach front is a great benefit and not only is it on the ocean but its central location in Playa is simply unmatched. Being located on the beach in the heart of Playa at the famous Lighthouse on 10th street is absolutely perfect. You may leave your car behind as you can walk to everything and transportation is excellent. El Faro is situated on a long stretch of the beach so it is like you are tucked away in an oasis right in the heart of all the action. The famous 5th avenue is so close that you probably won't even break a sweat on the short walk up there even on a hot day. But don't worry even if you do start to perspire the ocean is literally only a few steps away waiting to cool you off. Or if you can't make it past the hot sand to the beach you can stop and take a swim in the amazing pool. All joking aside the setting is quite spectacular and you simply won't find another property in Playa that has such a large pool and garden area that is so close to everything and is situated on such a large section of the beach. The condo itself has one of the best locations in El Faro and has breathtaking unobstructed views of the ocean. There are direct ocean views from the master bedroom, living room, dining room, kitchen and large terrace. The condo is new and is tastefully decorated with a little Caribbean fun but overall it is fairly neutral and has a universal appeal. There is a full size kitchen that is completely equipped with everything that you would expect. Everything is new and high end with nice little touches down to the 300 thread count sheets, however, the condo still maintains a relaxed and comfortable feeling. This is our second stay at El Faro. It never disappoints!! Shawn was great to communicate with. He recommended several shuttle transfer options and was quick to respond to any of my questions. The property management team was equally efficient. I highly recommend Shawn’s condo for anyone looking to enjoy a beautiful pool, incredible ocean and lots of action on the main street.

First off, this beautiful VRBO deserves 10 stars with 5 on the scale being excellent 6 being exceptional and 7 being exceeds my expectations beyond anything I was expecting. This is a beautiful property to bond as a family or enjoy as a couple. The time 7 days recharged us and left us wishing we could stay longer. It had ample space for our 2 adult children 21 and 23 and the master bedroom was spacious and had a sliding door to open and hear the ocean at night. The living room and the huge balcony was our favorite gathering place which provided breathtaking views of (la playa y hermosas amaneceres) the beach and beautiful sunrises. We were so impressed with this property Certainly the cleanest home we have ever rented. You can’t do better finding a place that is centrally located. The shops, restaurants and other fun tourist spots are within easy walking distance. The staff is so helpful, friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend this VRBO and the endearing city of Playa del Carmen. Thoroughly enjoyed this property, the friends we made hanging out in the beautiful large pool staring at the palm trees and the ocean. We had several fun encounters with other american tourists enjoying the laid back Mexico beach vibe that left me begging for more. The condo was everything we expected from the listing. The condo was clean, the beds were comfortable (except the pull out sleeper, but kids can sleep anywhere), and the kitchen was well equipped. It was nice to be able to either walk or take a quick taxi ride to Walmart or Mega for groceries to save on the cost of eating out and by using the full kitchen. We were also grateful for the washer and dryer, as we packed our bags with clean clothes to go home.
The unit has a nice balcony with a table and chairs, 2 lounge chairs and a grill. The shelter of the balcony provided enough cover from the Playa heat (we were there in July) to read a book and relax.
It was great to have a lazy day or two around the pool, and just about the right temperature (maybe a little too warm). The beach is just a few steps away from the pool and there are showers right next to the pool to wash the sand and sea water off before jumping back in the pool.
The check in process was simple and the on site staff was friendly and bi-lingual.
The owner (Shawn) was excellent to work with and very responsive leading up to our trip and while we were there.
We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this unit to our dearest friends.

Beautiful space, great location, two large bedrooms and two large bathrooms. Great lanai, huge pool, excellent view. Very quiet on room. One block off 5th Ave. Great view of ocean. Very affordable, especially compared to two hotel rooms.

We had a wonderful time in Playa, in large thanks to the property owner, Shawn. He was very responsive to all of my questions - and even offered up helpful suggestions that I didn't even think to ask as it was our first time in Playa. El Faro is perfectly situated, just a block off 5th where all the shopping/dining/bars are located. The pool at El Faro is wonderful, too!

The unit was as pictured and as advertised. As many have noted, the location is excellent. I didn't find the furniture particularly comfortable but that is a somewhat subjective thing. My main complaint is that El Faro is as bad or worse than a cruise ship when it comes to people hogging chairs around the pool. Out early in the morning to claim "their" chair and then walking away for hours.

Beautiful, clean condo right on the beach. What more could you ask for?! It has an amazing view of the ocean and is in a prime location next to 5th avenue. Sean (the owner) is so helpful and prompt with answers to questions. We had some issues with missing items and water not being delivered, but a quick email to Sean solved the problem. At check in I wished the front desk would have shown us to the condo, but we eventually found it on our own. Other than that, a wonderful place to stay and would highly recommend!

We spent 9 days at Christina’s Alder Beach Cottage. We loved the original photos of the property but when we walked in, it was even more than we expected. So much attention to detail! Christina really makes her guests feel special during their stay! The location was so perfect, close to two beautiful parks to take our morning walks. Waking up to the beautiful view every morning was so lovely! The beds were very comfortable and lots of room in the closet! We will definitely stay here again!

BEAUTIFUL / PRIME LOCATION - The condo was very nice and is equipped with all the necessities especially for families (washer/dryer, full kitchen etc..). The complex is very clean and there is security at all times. Very private and yet you are walking distance to great shopping and dining. We enjoyed breakfast out on the terrace. We will always remember the morning sunrise and evening sunsets (great view from Condo).. Want to thank Shawn for always responding back to fast and for always being very accomodating to our request like letting use his parking stall. We ending up using our rental car only two times so now we know, a car rental is not really needed. We will definitely be recommending this place to our friends and family.

We had a great time in Playa and enjoyed our stay at El Faro. The condo location is excellent as most everything is within walking distance. With a beachfront location, the condo is clean and functional and has a great view from the balcony. The pool is sparkling clean and so refreshing. The staff at El Faro are friendly and helpful. I would recommend planning a stay at this condo!

We stayed at Shawn's Condo for 6 nights, the location CANNOT be beat and lived up to the pictures posted and he was very responsive .
The pool was amazing, and we would often alternate between pool and ocean. Yes, there is seaweed but they do try their very best to rake what they can but once you wade out a bit it's not an issue so dig deep and just enjoy.
The condo has some GREAT staff, who were friendly w/ security 24 hours. This seemed more of a family condo, and I appreciated that at 10pm security was clearing the pool so the later evening could be enjoyed listening to music from the nearby bars - and even a fire dancer performing on the beach! No issues at all even with our close proximity facing pool.
Two things, the beds were VERY firm for our taste- could be easily remedied with a mattress topper but again tastes vary. Also the floors in unit could use a good scrubbing but honestly no complaints overall for cleanliness.
Pre-ordered groceries to be delivered from "LoQsea" -- best money I've ever spent and reasonable. I HATE arriving and knowing we need to go get a few things straight away, so ordering essentials was GREAT and we didn't rent a car -- not needed, so it was nice not to have to haul back as much. We did go the next day to WalMart but didn't like it as much as MEGA soriana which is also very much in walking distance (go in morning or evening when sun isn't so bad). Remember you can't buy alcohol on Sundays beyond 5pm and they mean it.. :-)
We did get tired of the constant barrage from shop keepers so when we had meals out we typically walked up to 38th as it's so quiet and tree lined with amazing restaurants. They even have a brew pub with a monkey that makes an appearance in the trees.
We did take the ferry to Cozumel one day which was nice, taking our swim suits with us we wandered up to a cool restaurant and Bar "Hemingway beach bar", where we lazily nibbled, drank, and swam in the ocean for a couple hours- it's expected!!! :-)
We also signed up for the " Tulum express" to check out the Mayan ruins-- if it's hot, do it EARLY, you will appreciate it because there is little shade, and it get's pretty busy. We enjoyed this 5 hour trip, which took a little over an hour to get there, so you spend a little over 2 hours once there exploring.
We also did a day excursion with ATV's, ZipLining, and Cenote which was amazing, and highly recommended if you are like us and like to do one or two 'events' to remember.

We arrived a bit early for check in but they were able to hold our luggage while we ventured out. We came across a bar/restaurant on the beach literally, 25 steps away from El Faro called Zenzi. Food was good, atmosphere was good and what a great way to begin our stay. Checking in was so easy and the security and front office staff were so informative and friendly. We opened the door and it was breathtaking. We spent alot of time on the balcony enjoying the amazing view. We were provided water and internet which was also great. The pool was amazing and we were literally steps away from the most beautiful beach. Taxi's are located right outside the front door 24/7 and security does a great job of keeping non guests of El Faro off the property. We were a block away from Quince Avenue where most of the shopping and restaurants are. We enjoyed a place for breakfast called Madrez literally right next door. If you want the best steak on the island without paying for the chain name, visit 500 Gramos. You will not be disappointed with the food and the hospitality. Thank you Shawn! We are already planning our next trip back to stay in your lovely home.

Great location
Just got home yesterday from staying at Reef 202. Very clean and it was perfect for our stay. My only complaint is that when we got checked into our room housekeeping stopped by to say they would be cleaning every other day. Nobody ever came until the 5th day. Which was pointless cause we were leaving the next day.
We have stayed at El Faro many times in different condos and always enjoy it. El faro has the best location… it’s a block off 5th Ave and within walking distance to everything.
We were warned by the owner about a huge problem with seaweed on the beach. The workers on the beach did everything they could to rake and haul it away but it was coming in faster than they could rake. Not much you can do about it. It did not ruin our trip. We were perfectly happy hanging out in the pool.
The owner is quick to reply if you have any questions or concerns.

The apartment is ok. But we couldn’t enjoy even the Balcony because the smell. Advertising a beautiful walk to the Beach it is not right because the Beach is dirty and smell terrible. I won’t stay again. Do not worth it.

The El Faro is located in a perfect location for easy access to a number of excellent restaurants and shopping. We loved the view from the balcony and the cleanliness of the condo and the property in general. The pool is amazing and the staff are very friendly.
The only downside was the seaweed that apparently showed up on shore early this year. When we arrived the beach was mostly free of seaweed on the shore yet accumulated quickly after. They worked on getting it removed daily but it was challenging with the amount coming in. We took a few ferry trips over to Cozumel and found a few good beaches to spend our day at.
Overall the condo is very nice, the location is perfect, and we had a nice trip.

The El Faro is located in a perfect location for easy access to a number of excellent restaurants and shopping. We loved the view from the balcony and the cleanliness of the condo and the property in general. The pool is amazing and the staff are very friendly.
The only downside was the seaweed that apparently showed up on shore early this year. When we arrived the beach was mostly free of seaweed on the shore yet accumulated quickly after. They worked on getting it removed daily but it was challenging with the amount coming in. We took a few ferry trips over to Cozumel and found a few good beaches to spend our day at.
Overall the condo is very nice, the location is perfect, and we had a nice trip.

Location- this condo was amazing. You were within seconds of the beach or pool. It was easy to run up and get a snack or beach toy My kids loved being able to go from beach to pool within seconds as well.
You are right on the ocean. el faro does a great job making sure your beach chairs are not taken by the public. There is public beach access right next to the hotel but this area is not any more busy than the rest of the beach.

Best 2 Bedroom condo in El Faro
Everything was as expected, except the view, which was better than expected! We experienced the most beautiful sunrises (and even a full moon) we’ve ever seen. The balcony makes you feel like you are at the pool or beach, but still affords you the privacy and convenience of being in your room. Loved the constant communication with the owner. Will definitely plan to rent this unit again in the future.

We had a very comfortable stay at Shawn's El Faro condo. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen had just enough for us to make some of our meals. We rented a car at the Cancun International Airport and having a parking space in the underground garage was great. The pool is beautiful and on our last day we got massages with Marie. We said we wished we had scheduled massages on days 2, 4, and 6 because she was so good and it's really affordable at $35 for a 50 minute massage. The patio has a BBQ and a six chair table. We did some adventures to Tulum, cenotes, the Monkey Sanctuary and hired a fishing boat along the beach just minutes from the condo. Shawn was very responsive when we needed a couple things. I would definitely rent this condo again.
