I have been visiting 'The Masons Arms', for quite a few years, and have never been disappointed. We used to bring our 2 children when they were young. They are grown men now and have families of their own and it is still our favourite pub...even better now they have beautiful accomodation. Love it.
What happened to the ribs on the menu, they were fantastic. So a slight disappointment this visit.

Location is amazing, views from the bedroom were fantastic. Room was a suite, large enough, over 2 floors. Had a restaurant within the hotel. Staff were lovely, very friendly.
Unfortunately this hotel was not to our liking. When we arrived there was 1 parking spot avaliable and the parking is a stretch between 2 roads. When we checked in at 7.35pm ish we were told kitchen shut at 8pm so if we wanted to eat, needed to drop bags and come straight back down. Felt very rushed. Ordered food, ribs and shepherd's pie. Took a while to arrive, but I expect that when cooked fresh. However, I don't know what sauce was on the ribs but they had been separated and coated in a sauce that honestly was horrible. I scraped off what I could but even the ribs were so fatty and not cooked brilliantly i left most of them. Shepherd's pie was cooked too much, was far too hot and for 20 mins it did not cool at all. The pot seemed to keep cooking it as it just kept tasting more burnt. Maybe we picked the wrong things, but being told the kitchen shuts and rushing us to order made us feel we couldn't send them back as it would be an inconvenience.
After food we went to the room. Nice room, but the bed on a mezzanine floor with stairs to it was not the best for us. Up and down to the toilet, not easy as we weren't aware of the stairs and we are both recovering from 1 knee and 1 ankle surgeries. The bed was quite soft also.
We didn't stay for breakfast that was served between 9am and 10am as was worried what the food would be like and it was very late for us as we wanted to get on with the day.
